In October 2024, Bammer trade a.s. successfully completed operational tests of the railway two-wheel press, developed and supplied by STRKAN s.r.o. The device integrates the function of two machines in use so far, as it enables the disassembly and re-pressing of wheels used on different cars (e.g. trams of the T3 series of various designs including modernizations, VARIO, EVO2, 40T trams, etc.). The press can develop a force of up to 130 t. Wheel hubs are pressed with a force of 70 t, springs are pre-tensioned on both sides with a force of 25 t, nuts are tightened with a tightening torque of 2300 Nm.
The control system of the machine records and documents all pressing values. Thanks to the linear measurement of the movement of the pressing cylinder, the progress of the force can be further monitored depending on the position. For easier handling, the press is also equipped with a crane.
The tram wheel press will help to increase the efficiency and reliability of service activities and thus contribute to maintaining a high standard of comfort and safety for tram transport. Thanks to its universal concept and the possibility of use for various types of tram wheels, it is also suitable for other customers from tram operators not only in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.
