VÚKV has implemented for the Czech infrastructure manager (SŽ) a set of activities, the outputs of which will be the basis for decision-making on a possible increase of allowed tractive effort above the currently valid value 350 kN, in terms of the effects of vehicles transmitting high tractive efforts on the track. After theoretical studies and simulations, the critical configurations of the train set and the directional line conditions were identified.

The studies resulted in the specification of measurements in real conditions, which were carried out by the VÚKV testing laboratory. Measurement trips were carried out on October 13 and 14, 2024 in the sections Leština u Světlé – Vlkaneč – Golčův Jeníkov and Havlíčkův Brod – Okrouhlice. The basis of the measuring train set was a container wagon Sggnss 80′, equipped with measuring equipment – four VÚKV measuring wheelsets, force sensors in the coupling system and motion and acceleration sensors. Its neighbours in the train set were an open Eamnoss wagon on one side and a Sggnss 80′ container wagon on the other. The necessary tractive power was provided by two ČD class 193 locomotives and the load was simulated by the braking force of the resistive dynamic brake by up to four ČD Cargo class 363.5 locomotives.

The implementation team consisting of VÚKV staff and ČD and ČD Cargo drivers coped with the implementation of the demanding test with full success and gained valuable knowledge. The preparation of the test was also supported by the owners of the freight wagons, METRANS and VTG.
