In April, DAKO-CZ secured another important project: the supply of brake systems for new sleeping car trainsets manufactured by the Spanish company TALGO, which will be deployed in passenger service for the Egyptian National Railways (ENR).

The project builds on a previous cooperation from 2022, when TALGO delivered passenger car trainsets with first- and second-class seating to Egypt. The current contract includes seven new sleeping trainsets, each consisting of 18 cars in the following configuration: 10 second-class sleeping cars, 5 first-class sleeping cars,1 dining car, 1 bistro car, 1 technical “Power Car” providing electrical power for the entire trainset.
From a design standpoint, the new trainsets are based on the previously delivered version but are extended by three additional cars. The DAKO brake equipment will be adapted to this updated layout while retaining proven components from the earlier solution.
The delivery includes:
- brake control panels for automatic pneumatic braking, featuring the DAKO CV1nD distributor valve, relay valve, automatic brake release valve, pressure sensors, and diagnostic ports,
- brake discs and brake pads,
- DAKO KBZ disc brake units for the bogies of end cars,
- DAKO wheel slide protection systems,
- and various accessories, including brake indicators, coupling cocks and hoses, emergency brake valves, and shut-off cocks.
Due to the increased length of the trainsets, DAKO Z2 brake pipe accelerators will also be installed. These ensure faster pressure drop propagation in the brake pipe during emergency braking, thereby reducing the overall system reaction time. This project is further proof that DAKO-CZ brake systems meet the highest technical standards and perform reliably even in demanding climatic conditions. The company continues to strengthen its international presence and builds on successful collaborations with renowned rolling stock manufacturers such as TALGO. At the same time, the project affirms that Czech know-how holds a strong position in the global railway industry.
