Třinecké železárny, in cooperation with VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava, launched the Steel into Schools project for students from technical secondary schools across the Moravian-Silesian Region. Three interactive lectures guided students through the properties, history, and role of steel in modern society – via practical experiments and virtual reality tours of production facilities. The final session focused on sustainability and the circular economy.
Around fifty students from Krnov joined the project first, followed by schools in Ostrava and Opava. The project culminated in a video competition focused on steel, with the winning class earning a visit to the Třinec steelworks.
“The project aims to break stereotypes about technical fields and show that technology is mainly about the real world around us,” said a TŽ Communications representative. Steel into Schools built on the long-running My Werk project for elementary school students in Třinec and the surrounding area.
