Thanks to its expertise, ČD – Telematika has achieved several significant milestones in the field of railway transport. The most significant was that it was the first entity to achieve type approval of retrofitted locomotives with ETCS (series 162WTB, 362 WTB, 362, 163 and 363) by the European Union Railway Agency in December 2022.
Other achievements include the completion of the installation of ETCS in model series 163/363 for customer ČD Cargo and model series 362 WTB for the carrier České dráhy. One of the big challenges for ČD – Telematika in 2023 will be the installation of ETCS on the 680 – Pendolino unit. A so-called “distributed solution” ETCS will be applied to the project. The core of the technological unit will not be assembled into the units in the form of a standardised cabinet with ETCS components (the so-called “cubicle”), but the individual components will be installed across the technological spaces of the head cars. The standard cubicle is physically impossible to fit into the existing technology spaces of the individual units due to the dimensions of the cabinet.
