The SILNICE ŽELEZNICE magazine produced by the Konstrukce Media publishing house has been devoted to key issues in the field of railway transport for a long time. This focus continues in 2024.
One of the key topics of this year’s second issue is, for example, the reconstruction of historic railway stations and the construction of new terminals, in which the Railway Administration has been systematically investing two billion crowns a year in recent years. Since mid-2016, when most of the station buildings came under its management, more than 16 billion CZK was spent on their maintenance, repairs and reconstruction.
The railway administration is justifiably proud of this, and the contractors of the individual buildings are also justifiably proud. The latest trend in improving passenger facilities is the establishment of stations and stops with underpasses extended by commercial spaces, which replace the original buildings and serve as transfer terminals between different modes of transport.
