Škoda Group has been selected as the supplier of complete electrical equipment for the trolleybuses of the manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach, which will be heading to Landskrona, Sweden. The contract, worth up to €1 million, includes the supply of complete traction equipment and its installation into three vehicles. Delivery of the finished trolleybuses is scheduled for autumn 2024.
“The direction we have been taking in research and development of new technologies for a long time is changing the face of road public transport. We offer our clients modern, reliable, and sustainable solutions with a positive impact on the environment and society. And it is no different with the electrical equipment for the new trolleybuses destined for one of Sweden’s largest operators, Keolis. Scandinavia has always been one step ahead when it comes to its approach to the environment and the implementation of sustainable transport solutions. Our common goal is to deliver a solution that will improve people’s lives and help protect our planet for generations to come,” said Petr Novotný, President Components & Bus Mobility at Škoda Group.
The Swedish operator Keolis will add three 12-metre trolleybuses with Škoda traction equipment to its fleet next year. The vehicles will also be equipped with a large-capacity traction battery, which will give the vehicles a range of up to 20 kilometres in areas without overhead wires. This will ensure operational flexibility even in routes without overhead wires, during exclusions or detours. In addition, advanced diagnostic systems will be installed to monitor and analyse the vehicles in operation, providing immediate feedback on their condition.
The cooperation between the two manufacturers builds on previous deliveries to this Swedish city. The first trolleybus with Škoda traction equipment was delivered to Landskrona in 2010, with two more vehicles following in 2013. The trolleybuses from the second batch were even among the first to use a Škoda traction battery for autonomous operation.
