A completely new type of 12-metre Škoda T´CITY trolleybus can be seen on the streets of Pilsen starting today. The new Škoda Group product will undergo a series of tests during test drives in the West Bohemian capital in order to pass type and homologation tests.
The vehicle is equipped with batteries for off-track travel and will offer future operators greater flexibility in transportation. In the future, however, the group will also offer a vehicle without a battery. Thanks to modern solutions and environmentally friendly operation, these new trolleybuses will improve the quality of public transport.
„The Škoda family has added one new member I am thrilled to have our own new trolleybuses, which builds on our 86-year tradition. In that time, we have delivered more than 14,500 trolleybuses to our customers and I believe that the new Škoda T’CITY trolleybuses will be just as popular as our previous products,“ says Tanya Altmann, President of the Bus Product Line at Škoda Group
The new product from the Škoda portfolio was developed in cooperation with sister company Temsa, which has produced a new generation of bodywork for trolleybuses. Škoda supplied the traction equipment that is at the heart of the new product. The parameters tested include verification of driving characteristics, but also software testing, for example. During the holidays, the first passengers should ride the new trolleybus in Pilsen as part of test rides with passengers. The new type of trolleybus is equipped with air-conditioning to ensure greater comfort for passengers, and also has a modern information and check-in system.
