It’s been a year already since SKD TRADE, a.s. announced the successful homologation of flexible segments for 15T tram wheels for the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague so the original rubber segments will be replaced with this special polyurethane (PUR) segments. On October 19, 2022, utility model no. 36455 was registered for this specially developed PUR by the Industrial Property Office.
On the basis of a long-term contract, the 15T tram wheels are fitted by these segments en masse during the replacement of rims. The first vehicles will reach 150000 km by the beginning of December 2022. So far PUR segments do not show any damage of their surface even after long and exacting operation running of 15T trams. Beside that they still retain their shape and size memory. The installation of PUR segments solves the problem of qualitative instability of the original rubber segments of the 15T trams of Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague for several years.
