The national manufacturer of railway turnouts, DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna, a.s., completed the construction of a brand-new modern pressing hall in August 2024. Subsequently, a hydraulic press, which is designed for pressing the ends of tongue rails was installed. The installed technology also includes an automatic line for manipulation during the pressing process, this enables production of tongue rails up to 70m in length.
The pressing technology uses induction heating followed by a multi-step hot forming process. In each forming operation, the rail profile is gradually changed to a different profile, this process includes continuous recording of production data. The first samples of forged rails are currently being tested according to the established European standards and customer technical specifications.
In close future the pressing hall will be equipped with other necessary cutting, straightening and chip machining technologies, which will allow to increase its production capacity not only in terms of the quantity of the forged tongue rails, but also in the number of different tongue rail profiles.
