A new wheelset type was prepared by BONATRANS in Bohumín for CZ LOKO, its traditional customer and one of the most important manufacturers of shunting locomotives in Europe. It can be used in two-axle locomotives Class 719.7, four-axle locomotives Class 744.0 and 744.1, but mainly in all newly prepared CZ LOKO locomotives.
The new innovative wheelset with the weight 2520 kg is equipped with wheels made from the ER8 steel grade and designed by BONATRANS. The wheels with the diameter 1100 mm and the weight 511 kg have brake discs mounted on the wheel webs. The axle is manufactured from the EA4T steel grade and its weight is 553 kg. The diameter of wheel seats is 215 mm. BONATRANS manufactures the axles according to the CZ LOKO technical documentation.
This universal wheelset type may be used in a small shunting locomotive as well as in a big mainline locomotive, in diesel, electric or even dual-mode locomotives – with two power sources. It is the result of the trend of increasing the rolling stock manufacture efficiency by modular construction, with minimisation of the types of parts used, such as wheelsets. When we mention new CZ LOKO locomotives, we primarily mean EffiLiner 2000, DualLiner 2000 and DualShunter 2000 locomotives.
BONATRANS has supplied wheelsets and their parts, on a long-term basis, to 80 countries on 5 continents. “The locomotive segment is very important for us, it represents more than 100 customers from about 40 countries in Europe, Asia, America and Africa. In terms of sales revenues for wheelsets, wheels, axles and tyres, it is up to CZK 1 billion a year”, says Jakub Weimann, the Managing Director.
