On 2 October 2023, Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Minister of Road Transport & Highways of the Republic of India, paid an official visit to Škoda Group. The visit started in Prague, where he experienced a first-hand demonstration of the latest technology by taking a ride in a new generation of a Škoda H’CITY hydrogen bus.
Continuing his visit, Honourable Minister toured both production sites of the group in Pilsen. During the tour, he witnessed the production processes of trolleybuses, motors, trams, and metro trainsets, gaining valuable insights into Škoda’s technological expertise and manufacturing capabilities. This visit signifies the commitment of Škoda Group to building international partnerships and contributing to the growth and innovation of India’s transportation sector.
„I would like to thank Honourable Minister, Mr. Gadkari, for taking the time to visit our premises here in Pilsen. The Indian market holds great potential with a highly skilled workforce, which is in line with our group’s strategy. This summer, we signed a memorandum of understanding with TATA Autocomp Systems. This strategic agreement forms the foundation for a joint venture focused on manufacturing components for India’s growing rail market and advancing public mobility,” commented Petr Novotný, President of Business Units at Škoda Group.
